Job Description: The Dr. Mary Walker Health Center at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a Nurse Practitioner (Family Health Practice). This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. This position reports to the Director of Student Health Services

Description of Responsibilities: This person will be responsible for:
- Providing direct primary care to a diverse population of students using face-to-face visits and telemedicine.
- Collaborating and consulting cooperatively with other health team members involved in the delivery of patient care.
- Following patient care protocols as determined by the Health Information and Therapeutics Committee.
- Assisting students to assume responsibilities for the prevention of illness and the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health through teaching/counseling during clinical interaction.
- Maintaining and improving clinical skills and knowledge through continuing education (conferences, journals, videos, etc.) and developing/participating in professional growth opportunities for staff. Documentation of continuing education will be the NP's responsibility and will be kept in their credential folder.
- Establishing and maintaining high standards of practice within Health Services, including:
- Delivery of quality and comprehensive clinical services
- Promoting team building and positive group process
- Equitable sharing of workload
- The provision of ongoing assistance with administrative responsibilities to meet or exceed standards of care
- Assisting with orientation as needed
- Maintaining national certification credentials
- Membership on one of the Health Services committees to help maintain and meet standards of care.
- Providing care for Gender Affirming Care students.
- Assisting the Director and Assistant Director as needed
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications: Open Competitive:
- Certification and current registration as a Nurse Practitioner in a specialty practice area by the New York State Education Department.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years or 3600 hours of clinical work experience (no supervising physician required). Previous experience in College Health, Primary Care, Urgent Care, or Emergency Medicine preferred
- Education: Master's or Doctorate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program
- Licensure: Current and unrestricted RN and NP license in NYS and board certification (e.g., AANP, ANCC).
- Must maintain NYS RN & NP license and registration
- Up-to-date CPR certification.
Skills: Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong clinical decision-making and excellent communication skills. A willingness to provide care to students in the LGBTQIA+ population, especially prescribing GAHT.
