Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is accepting applications for a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to serve as Assistant Director of Student Health Services. This is a full-time, benefited position with majority of responsibility on the Gainesville campus. The NP/PA will provide care for minor illnesses and injuries, women's health services, STI screening and treatment, perform minor office procedures, and provide accurate patient education. Will function with off-site physician supervision in accordance with the Nurse Practitioner Act and rules and regulations established by the State of Georgia or the PA job description set forth by the Georgia Composite Medical Board. The Assistant Director will be responsible for the supervision of day-to-day operations and staff members at Student Health Services, including administrative and non-provider clinical staff. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with compliance policy and procedure, supply inventory and attending meetings as directed. Occasional weekend coverage for special events is required.
In addition to background checks for all cardholders, O.C.G.A. § 50-5-83 requires a credit check on all employees issued a purchasing card. Additionally, credit checks must be run at the time of Pcard renewal.
Responsibilities
- Perform efficient and high-quality outpatient clinical care in collaboration with medical staff. Complete concurrent and comprehensive documentation for each patient encounter. Order diagnostic testing and therapeutic modalities such as lab tests and EKGs. Prescribe and administer medications consistent within the NP/PA and supervising physician's scope of practice. Consults physician as indicated. Provides referrals to appropriate physicians, specialist, dentist, or other health care providers for consultation as needed.
- Provides patient education as indicated by nature of complaints or illness. Formulates and prepares health education for campus community. Provides health information to students, staff, and parents.
- Establishes policies and procedures to promote more efficient health care services; assist with updating pharmacy formulary; responsible for purchasing and overseeing ordering of medications and supplies while supporting budget regulations and limits. Responsible for P card for purchasing.
- Responsible for day-to-day operations and supervision of staff. Maintains open communication with Director of Student Health Services and Dean of Students/AVP of Well-Being. Develop departmental goals and assessments. Attends meetings and sits on committees as directed.
- Assists in planning and implementation of special projects.
- Responsible for orientation, Nighthawk previews, and Corps of Cadets support.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Must have knowledge of current medical treatment practices and trends.
- Ability and skill in diagnosis and treatment of students with illness and/or injuries.
- Must have the ability to network with area medical specialist and facilities to enhance referrals when needed. Computer skills.
Required Qualifications
- Must have Master's from Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant program from an accredited institution.
- Must have current Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant licensure in the State of Georgia. Nurse practitioner must hold FNP certification from AANP or ANCC. AHA BLS certification required.
- Three to five years of Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant experience in a family practice or urgent care required. Electronic Medical Record experience preferred.
Proposed Salary
The proposed salary range for this position is: $105,023-$115,525.
