Job Details

The Bachelor of Science and RN to BSN programs in nursing faculty member reports to the Chair of the Nursing programs at Anna Maria College. The nursing faculty member ensures course student learning outcomes are met through provisions of assigned lecture content and supervising nursing laboratory and clinical experiences. The nursing faculty member is required to participate in the mission and governance of Anna Maria College, nursing curriculum development and evaluation, and development and implementation of the systematic evaluation plan for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement a written plan for the systematic evaluation of all components of the program. This evaluation shall include the measurement of the student learning outcomes of the program. The results of the evaluation shall be used for the development, maintenance, and revision of the program.
  • Demonstrate support of the college and BSN program missions, philosophies, and goals.
  • Participate in program and college faculty meetings and activities.
  • Maintain professional competence through practice, continuing education, and professional activities.
  • Counsel and advise students.
  • Maintain documentation according to college and program policy.
  • Maintain knowledge of major trends in the specific areas of instruction methodology and technology.
  • Participate in curriculum development, review, and revision.
  • Participate in development and implementation of a systematic plan of evaluation for the Bachelor of Science in nursing education programs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate policies, which are consistent with the policies of the parent institution, or with differences that are justified by the program educational outcomes.
  • Maintain professional competence through practice, continuing education, and professional activities.
  • Meet with representatives of clinical agencies as requested.
  • Utilize established or develop course syllabi in accordance to the College and regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare lecture outlines and notes based on course student learning outcomes and topical outlines in advance.
  • Adhere to all AMC nursing department and institutional policies as published in the faculty and student handbooks.
  • Promote high standards of excellence and academic integrity in assigned courses.
  • Present course content in classroom setting and attend all class sessions.
  • Participate in student advising, college and departmental committee work
  • Provide coordination of course student learning for the didactic, clinical and nursing laboratory educational experiences.
  • Evaluate the student achievement of nursing competencies as relevant to course assignment(s); e.g., lecture, clinical, laboratory.
  • Complete clinical evaluations and assign grades for students’ tests and assignments.
  • Document pre and/or post-conferences in clinical setting.
  • Submit recommendations for equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

EXPECTED RESULTS

The Nursing Faculty will provide opportunity for nursing students to complete course student learning necessary to fulfill requirements for eligibility to sit for the NCLEX-RN examination.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Supervise and mentor nursing students in classroom and clinical/laboratory settings.

  • Maintain verbal, written, and/or electronic communication with current and potential nursing students.
  • Communicate with alumni for program feedback and support.
  • Establish and maintain community connections.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO REACH ACCEPTABLE PERFORMANCE

  • Hold an advanced degree in Nursing; e.g., earned master’s degree in nursing, or possess an earned doctorate in nursing, terminal degree preferred.
  • Hold an unencumbered Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing.
  • Possess a minimum of two years full-time nursing experience (or its equivalent) within the last five years with evidence of clinical competence in the area of clinical instruction.
  • Maintain expertise appropriate to teaching responsibilities.
  • Preferred Experience in Maternity, Pediatrics and Psychology Nursing.
  • Provide documentation of current Healthcare Provider CPR requirement for clinical agencies.
  • Provide documentation of current health care requirements as required by the State of Massachusetts and assigned clinical agencies.

Salary Range: $72,000-$75,000
