The School of Nursing invites applications from candidates for up to 2 Nursing Practice Educator, continuing appointment position in the School of Nursing beginning August 15th, 2026.

The Nursing Practice Educator (NPE) plays an integral role in nursing education, working closely with students to provide clinical instruction, supervision, and evaluation in diverse practice settings, in addition to delivering and assessing on-campus laboratory and simulation-based learning experiences.
Responsibilities and opportunities will include:
- Teaching undergraduate nursing students in group clinical placements in a variety of off-campus (i.e. acute care, long term care) and on-campus (i.e. clinical nursing labs, simulation scenarios) practice settings.
- Providing supervision to undergraduate students who are preceptored in a variety of clinical settings.
- Contributing to curriculum development, innovative teaching and learning strategies, and program evaluation.
- Mentoring students and providing academic advising.
- Employing innovative and evidence-informed teaching strategies.
- Participating in accreditation and quality assurance activities.
- Engaging in interdisciplinary and community-based partnerships, as well as in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
- Participation in departmental, faculty, and university governance.
- Contribution to professional and/or scholarly communities.
- Supporting the overall mission and strategic goals of the School of Nursing.
Academic Qualifications: Successful candidates will possess:
- At least 5 years of nursing experience. All applicants must be comfortable providing clinical instruction in a general medical setting. Current or recent experience (i.e. within last 5 years) in the following clinical areas would be an asset: mental health and addictions, pediatrics, community/primary care, or perinatal nursing.
- Experience teaching, mentoring, or precepting nursing students.
- A BScN, BN, or equivalent credential at minimum, with a Master’s in a relevant field preferred.
- A license or eligibility to be licensed as a registered nurse in Nova Scotia.

- An up-to-date CV;
- Proof of academic qualifications (i.e. a copy of the highest degree), as well as proof of a baccalaureate nursing degree or equivalent.
- Proof of licensure with the College of Nurses (including years of service as a registered nurse).
- A list of additional qualifications (i.e. professional training, community-based experiences, career development activities etc.);
- Any additional documents that would provide information on the factors outlined above, such as teaching evaluations, preceptor evaluations, etc.
- The names and email/phone contact information of three references, at least one of whom is a current supervisor. References that can speak directly to the applicant’s teaching experience are also welcome, if available. Referees will be contacted soon after the closing date if the applicant is short-listed.
