Occupational Therapist- Hand
To evaluate and treat patients with conditions affecting the hands, wrist, elbows, and shoulders. Assess and treat injuries and conditions such as fractures, tendon, nerve injuries, arthritis, cumulative trauma, chronic pain, and post-surgical conditions. Develop personalized treatment plans to improve mobility, reduce pain, and restore function using therapeutic interventions including modalities and orthosis fabrication, as prescribed by a physician.
- Evaluate and develop individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practices
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care
- Apply clinical decision-making to adapt and progress treatment based on patient needs
- Document care clearly, concisely, and in a timely manner
- Stay current with best practices and continuing education in occupational therapy
Required Qualifications:
- If licensed before 1/1/2007: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy.
- If licensed on or after 1/1/2007: Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Satisfactory completion of an internship program is necessary
- Registered member of the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy- NBCOT
- This classification requires Primary Source Verification.
- CHT, CHT eligible, and/or recent graduate of Michigan Medicine Hand Fellowship
- Hand therapy experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work between the hours of 7:00am and 7:00pm, based on clinic scheduling needs
- Strong adaptability and willingness to work in multiple clinic locations as needed
- Strong interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with diverse teams and patient populations
- Willingness and commitment to support the continued education and professional development of Hand Therapy Fellows through mentorship, collaboration and teaching
- Experience or strong interest in treating chronic pain and complex upper extremity conditions
- Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring, program development, or staff education
- Strong interest in continuing education and professional growth within hand therapy
Days, 40 hours per week, not to exceed 10 hours in a single day. Specific hours are dependent on location needs.
