Job Description:

Job Functions

Student support

  • Assist students in person, by phone, and email with registration, graduation, and course-related questions.
  • Process registrations, drops/adds, withdrawals, enrollment verifications, and transcript requests.

Clerical and data entry

  • Enter student data in MCC's student information system (e.g., registration, address changes, grade changes, verifications).
  • Respond to student and faculty emails; answer calls through the office's shared phone queue.

Operational support

  • Support College Now, Workforce Development, and cross-registration processes.
  • Help maintain the master schedule and assist with graduation tasks.
  • Available for occasional evening and Saturday work during peak times.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Must currently hold the Monroe County civil service title of Office Clerk II or be reachable on the current eligible list for this title or meet the below minimum requirements for a temporary appointment, if offered;
  • Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
  • (A) Graduation with an Associate's degree or successful completion of at least sixty (60) credit hours from a college or university; OR,
  • (B) Two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent office clerical or secretarial experience* ; OR,
  • (C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
  • Must be a Monroe County Resident.

*Experience as a Teller, Cashier or Sales Clerk will not be considered appropriate experience for the purposes of these minimum qualifications.

NOTE: Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. A list of acceptable companies who provide this service can be found on the Internet at http://www.cs.ny.gov/jobseeker/degrees.cfm. You must pay the required evaluation fee.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: If you are appointed, you will be required to possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

Additional Information:

Job Type: Support Staff, Full-time, Temporary

* There is an Open-Competitive & Promotional Exam scheduled for this title on: 5/3/2025. The successful candidate will be hired temporarily until the Certified List is established.

Hours: 8:45 a.m.- 4:45 p.m.

Salary: $40,991.65 per year. Eligible for an increment increase at 6 months.

Pay Transparency Disclaimer: The posted salary range represents the full salary scale for this position, which includes all pay steps within the range. The starting salary for all new hires is typically at the entry-level figure, as determined by the step placement of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Progression through the range occurs over time based on established criteria such as length of service and performance. This range is provided to give applicants an understanding of the potential earnings over the course of a career in this role.

MCC offers a Flexible Work Policy for benefit eligible employees. Types of flexible work arrangements include flextime/staggered shifts, remote work/telecommuting and compressed work schedule. The availability of flexible work arrangements varies by division, department, and position, based upon business and operational needs. Limitations to flexible work arrangements are outlined in the official policy.

Prohibition of Remote Work Outside New York State: Remote work locations outside New York State are not authorized by the College due to out-of-state tax and regulatory implications. In limited circumstances, prompted by business or operational needs, the College may approve requests to work remotely outside of New York State, on a short term, temporary basis.
