Job Summary
The University of Texas at Tyler invites qualified individuals to apply for an open-rank faculty position (Assistant or Associate Professor) within the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences. This position will also serve as the Program Director for the new Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program in the School of Health Professions.
This is a 12-month (9+3) faculty appointment based at the UT Tyler Health Science Center, with responsibilities in teaching, scholarship, service, and academic program leadership. The Program Director provides leadership for the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the DPT program, ensuring excellence in curriculum delivery, student success, faculty engagement, and accreditation compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach graduate-level courses within the DPT curriculum.
- Advise and mentor DPT students.
- Maintain an active program of scholarship consistent with rank.
- Provide academic leadership and administrative oversight of the DPT program.
- Ensure compliance with CAPTE accreditation standards
- Lead curriculum development, assessment, and continuous quality improvement.
- Recruit, support, evaluate, and mentor DPT faculty.
- Contribute to program planning, enrollment management, and strategic initiatives.
- Represent the program within the university and the profession.
Required Education/Experiences
- Earned doctoral degree and entry-level degree in Physical Therapy.
- Eligibility for physical therapy licensure in the State of Texas.
- Minimum of six (6) years of teaching experience in entry-level physical therapy education, including three (3) years in a DPT program.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and academic leadership.
- Knowledge of CAPTE accreditation standards.
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
Preferred Education/Experiences
- Experience in academic administration or program leadership.
- Experience with accreditation, assessment, or curriculum development.
- Record of scholarly productivity appropriate to rank.
