Job Summary
The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking an academic clinical pathologist with expertise in clinical chemistry for a permanent full-time position in the Department of Pathology at the UCH Clinical Laboratory.
Nature of Work
This position involves directing the special chemistry section of the main clinical laboratory and the hospital's point of care testing program. Responsibilities include diagnostic testing using immunoassays, protein electrophoresis, hemoglobin electrophoresis, GC, LC-MSMS, and other technologies. Oversee 31 point of care tests at 95 locations with 5,600 operators and 521 devices, performing over 50,000 tests monthly. Provide expert guidance for validating tests, advise on test selection, train staff, and participate in resident/fellow training.
Employment Expectations
- Participate in clinical care, administrative management, teaching, and research.
- Identify in-house testing opportunities.
- Provide clinical consultation and interpret tests like serum protein electrophoresis and hemoglobin variants.
- Clinical laboratory director responsibilities at UCHealth sites.
- Develop lab stewardship tools and utilization management strategies.
- Optimize workflow using information systems.
- Participate in on-call coverage.
Work Location: Onsite in Aurora, CO
Minimum Qualifications
Assistant Professor:
- Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.)
- CP or AP/CP Residency completion with board certification/eligibility
- Eligible for Colorado pathology license
- Credentials at University of Colorado Hospital and CU Medicine
Associate Professor: Same as above plus 5+ years post-fellowship experience, board-certified, accomplishments for Associate rank.
Preferred: Board certification/eligibility in clinical pathology subspecialty, academic credentials, publications.

Anticipated Pay Range
Assistant Professor: $220,000 - $260,000
Associate Professor: $260,000 - $300,000
