Job Summary:

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is currently recruiting emergency medicine physicians in the clinical series working primarily as nocturnists. This position will work as a full-time faculty position at the rank of Instructor/Senior Instructor (Nocturnist) in the Department of Emergency Medicine at any UCHealth site of practice, which may include virtual platforms of care. The successful candidate will be an excellent clinician who collaborates well within teams to deliver the highest quality of emergency care to every patient, every time.

This is a predominant night schedule with minimal-to-no rotation into daytime shifts. Nocturnists can work up to 24 hours of day shifts per month, if desired.

This position will receive a night shift differential (varies by site).

Nocturnists work together to create their own schedules, allowing for more flexibility and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an attending nocturnist in the emergency department at one of the approved sites, including: any affiliated free-standing emergency department, virtual health care, Broomfield Hospital, Highlands Ranch Hospital, or the University of Colorado Hospital.
  • Actively participate in efforts to improve patient safety, clinical quality and patient experience and provide leadership of at least one project annually, if requested by the Chair or designee.
  • Working one weekend per month is required.
  • Participate in the rotating sick call coverage schedule per departmental or practice site guidelines, if applicable.
  • Complete necessary CME per departmental and/or practice site guidelines.
  • Serve as a committee member as needed by the Department or practice site on an ad hoc basis.

Work Location: Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in the Denver metropolitan area.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Instructor

  • Current Colorado Medical License, or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Completion of an emergency medicine residency
  • Board prepared or certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine

Senior Instructor

  • Current Colorado Medical License, or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Completion of an emergency medicine residency
  • Board prepared or certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine
  • Completion of fellowship training in Emergency Medicine

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Instructor: $271,703

Senior Instructor: $271,703

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
