Job Summary:

The Section of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the University of Colorado seeks a board certified/board eligible pediatric intensivist to complement the clinical and administrative activities of the section in Colorado Springs. This is a full-time position will join a team of pediatric intensivists caring for critically ill patients at Children's Hospital Colorado's hospital in Colorado Springs. As a 24/7 in-house coverage model for the 16-bed pediatric intensive care unit, pediatric intensivists will work a mix of days and overnight shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

Candidates will serve as an attending physician and provide care for critically ill children on the Critical Care service at Children's Hospital Colorado, Colorado Springs. In addition to the expected clinical shifts in the pediatric intensive care unit, candidates may be expected to pursue appropriate scholarship efforts in their area of interest and supervise advanced practice providers and students. Candidates may also be expected to lead hospital quality improvement projects and participate in hospital or department committees. Practice assignments will include an allocation of in-house shifts including daytime and overnight service; assignments will be determined by the Medical Director, Colorado Springs and staffing needs. Attending service assignments are subject to change to meet the needs of patients.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Academic rank will be determined during the interview process after discussion between you and the department about your previous experience and academic desires.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Instructor of Clinical Practice:

  • Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Critical Care

Sr. Instructor of Clinical Practice: (same as above)

Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice: (same)

Associate Professor of Clinical Practice: (same)

Professor of Clinical Practice: (same)

Condition of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of clinical experience in Pediatric Critical Care.
  • Experience with developing and/or leading clinical programs
  • Willing to relocate to Colorado Springs.

  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with professional composure;
  • Knowledge of quality improvement, family centered care, and evidence based practice;
  • Knowledge of critical care delivery in community-based setting;
  • Skill in leading high-performing, cross-functional teams;
  • Skill in prioritizing patient and system needs appropriately;
  • Knowledge and skill in customer service delivery;
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team;
  • Well organized and efficient in their work

Anticipated Pay Range:

HIRING RANGE:

Instructor: $280,000-320,000

Assistant Professor: $280,000-320,000

Associate Professor: $280,000-320,000

Professor: $280,000-320,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
