Job Title: Open Rank Laboratory Sciences Professional (Entry - Intermediate) - Cardiology Research
Position #: 00847208 - Requisition #:39703
Job Summary:
Our laboratory is truly translational. By leveraging biobanked human samples, we employ numerous mouse models to dissect heart transplant rejection. We have a microsurgeon to perform heart transplants in mice, a rare opportunity to work with this model system. Our system has direct translatability to patient care. Our lab works with cutting-edge technologies and has been and will continue to be highly prolific in its publication record. As a member of the lab, you will work alongside a physician-scientist (PI) that is eager and excited to teach and help you advance your career as you learn new skills, gather knowledge, and function as an essential member of the team. We will tailor your experience to your comfort level but anticipate that you will ultimately design and carry out experiments independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mouse husbandry and genotyping of complex strain combinations (congenic, lineage tracing, genetic knockouts).
- Work alongside surgeon to learn how to assess transplant survival.
- Daily administration of critical experimental drugs or placebo.
- Heart transplant readouts will include flow cytometry, single cell RNA sequencing, histology, cytotoxicity assays, and immunofluorescence.
- You will work with the PI and a team of collaborators in an open, enthusiastic, and exciting environment.
Work Location:
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado
Why Join Us:
The goal of this job is to be mutually beneficial. You will learn and perform incredible science and will also have the opportunity for authorship and career advancement. As a physician scientist, it is incredibly important for me to foster a scientific environment that will have direct clinical impact. Our lab will be fast-paced and prolific. We will ask questions that clinicians are asking but we have the unique ability to search for these answers. This puts us in an exceptional situation in the biomedical research field. We will leverage this benefit to construct experiments to real time relevant questions. As a candidate, these experiences will not only be intellectually rewarding, but will bolster your academic resume, open the doors to other thought leaders in the field, and provide the confidence to pursue your chosen career path.
