Open Rank Tenure-System Faculty Position in Clinical Trials and Therapeutic Development
Position Description
The School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences (BBS) at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) seeks to recruit a tenure system faculty member with experience in clinical trials and therapeutic development who will help expand our reputation as a clinical trial hub and serve as a core exemplar for BBS, helping to build a culture of clinical trials across UT Dallas. Researchers assessing pharmaceutical or device-based interventions with FDA oversight (approved IND or IDE) will be prioritized for hire. Applicants leading rigorous clinical trial programs outside the oversight of the FDA will also be considered. This position requires an active research program with current (or strong potential for) extramural funding, publications in highly regarded peer-reviewed journals, a record of excellence in teaching, and a history of institutional and professional service.
Successful applicants will be appointed to the Department of Neuroscience, the Department of Psychology, or the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing. Faculty members teach undergraduate and graduate level courses within their discipline and area of expertise. Joint appointments are possible and cross-listing of undergraduate and graduate seminars facilitates multi-disciplinary student education.
The appointment commences for the fall 2026 semester.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience: A PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline is required prior to employment. Applicants for Associate or Full Professor appointments should have current extramural funding and a strong track record of research productivity, teaching, and mentorship. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to produce research and scholarly or creative achievements that enhance the program and the discipline, and able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
Preferred Education and Experience: A history of research collaborations broadly housed in the disciplines of neuroscience, psychology, or speech, language, and hearing is preferred. Candidates with clinical or translational research programs will be prioritized for hire.

All three BBS Departments are home to thriving undergraduate programs with multiple tracks that support students with diverse career interests, in addition to offering robust master's degrees and PhD programs. BBS additionally houses highly regarded clinical education programs in both Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, including the nation's 5th ranked audiology program and 18th ranked speech-language pathology program, and is in the process of launching a new Clinical Psychological Science program.

The UT Dallas Clinical and Translational Research Center provides comprehensive support for clinical research including regulatory support, administrative staffing, and access to core facilities. Clinical and translational research programs are additionally facilitated by the UT Dallas Sammons BrainHealth Imaging Center.
Additional opportunities for vibrant interdisciplinary collaborations are available with UT Dallas Centers including the Callier Center for Communication Disorders, the Center for Vital Longevity, the Center for Children and Families, the Texas Biomedical Device Center, and the Center for Advanced Pain Studies. BBS faculty also have vigorous collaborations with the UT Dallas Bioengineering and Electrical Engineering programs, the UT Southwestern Medical Center, and Baylor University Medical Center.
