Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience. We are seeking innovative and collaborative individuals pursuing fundamental or translational aspects of microbial pathogenesis, host responses to infection, and immunology. We especially seek applicants with research programs that use state-of-the-art approaches involving novel model systems, cell biology, human immunology, imaging, molecular genetics, or systems biology. We offer an intellectually exciting, collegial and supportive environment with robust graduate, physician scientist, and post-doctoral training programs, as well as extensive opportunities for interdisciplinary and interdepartmental collaboration. Resources include outstanding core facilities for DNA/RNA sequencing and genomics, imaging, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry, structural analyses and automated drug screening. Facilities supporting BSL-3 pathogen research are operational within the department and college. Competitive salary and start-up packages commensurate with qualifications and experience are available.

Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills and be expected to articulate plans for establishing and maintaining an extramurally funded research program incorporating collaborations with UIC colleagues.
