Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Digital Trainer to support the national roll-out of Online Social anxiety Cognitive therapy for Adolescents (OSCA) – a digitally enabled psychological therapy for young people with social anxiety. OSCA faithfully implements the specialized Cognitive Therapy for Social Anxiety Disorder and was developed by David Clark and Eleanor Leigh at the University of Oxford.
This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in expanding access to leading evidence-based psychological therapies to help improve the clinical outcomes and quality of life for adolescents with Social Anxiety.
The ideal candidate will be a Clinical Psychologist or Cognitive Behavioural Therapist who has already received training in Cognitive Therapy for Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) based on the Clark & Wells model, has experience in providing clinical supervision, and a strong understanding of NHS children and young people’s (CYP) Services. As a key leader in this initiative, you will be responsible for training, supervising, and supporting cliniciansin NHS CYP services, thereby helping the services transition to a future in which digital is a more prominent part of the patient offer, while at the same time maintaining /enhancing the quality standards that characterise the national programme.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Training
- Deliver initial OSCA trainingand provide OSCA skills groups to therapists in NHS CYP Services.
- Provide continued OSCA training and skills groups to these NHS clinicians, to help them to develop a sustainable ‘within service’ OSCA supervision and training model (a train-the-trainer system).
- Engage constructively with services to support them in optimising supervisory structures for delivery of digitally enabled therapies.
- Provide expert clinical support and guidance to practitioners using OSCA including responding to clinical queries from therapists on the programme.
Program Implementation & Oversight
- Contribute to clinical and programme meetings to support the national rollout.
- Collaborate with the clinical team to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of OSCA in services.
- Establish best practices and frameworks to standardize high-quality delivery across services.
- Develop and manage content for Community of Practice, a therapist-focused knowledge-sharing platform and moderate discussion forums.
- Contribute to the development of a competency framework for OSCA
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Act as a clinical ambassador for OSCA, engaging with NHS stakeholders and promoting adoption.
- Identify and address barriers to implementation, working proactively with teams to optimize uptake.
- Ensure alignment with the latest evidence-based practices and digital therapy innovations.
- Maintain clinical expertise through ongoing practice in delivering and supervising OSCA.
- Any other duties appropriate to the grade as directed by Koa Health and/or the Oxford teams.
Selection Criteria
Training And Qualifications
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and/or BABCP registration as a CBT Therapist.
- Trained in Cognitive Therapy for Social Anxiety Disorder (based on Clark & Wells model).
Experience
- A proven track record of delivering high quality disorder specific assessment and CBT interventions for common mental health disorders, including anxiety problems (must include social anxiety) and depression.
- Assessment and psychological treatment of young people.
- Experience of NHS CYP services.
- Undertaking thorough risk assessments.
- Delivering CBT treatment remotely.
- Desirable: Providing supervision to other staff.
- Desirable: Delivering training to professionals.
Knowledge and Skills
- Good knowledge of common anxiety disorders (must include Social Anxiety) and comorbid difficulties such as depression, including presentation and diagnosis, and skills in assessment of these.
- Knowledge of NICE recommended care and psychological interventions for common mental health problems in young people.
- Understanding of the theoretical and empirical foundations of cognitive therapy for social anxiety disorder.
- A keen interest in digital innovation and working in digital healthcare.
- Knowledge of barriers and facilitators to engagement in digital interventions for services and families.
