The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine (St. Louis, MO) has a tenure-track position available for an outstanding investigator at any career stage focused on Basic/Translational Hearing or Vestibular Research. The applicant should have, or be prepared to develop, an independent research program supported by external funding. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, with potential opportunities for leadership. All areas of scientific investigation within basic/translational auditory and vestibular research are welcome, with added interest emphasis on inner ear therapeutics as well as cochlear/8th-nerve anatomy & physiology.
This position will provide a startup package and lab space in the Central Institute for the Deaf Research Building, a world-class research laboratory co-located with one of the original oral schools for the deaf in the United States. Washington University School of Medicine and the Department of Otolaryngology consistently rank in the top 5 nationwide for extramural funding. The Department of Otolaryngology currently comprises a large group of >50 clinical and research faculty, the Program for Audiology and Communication Sciences, and a top tier otolaryngology residency with an R25 institutional grant supporting protected research time for four residents per year. The applicant will have opportunities to participate in graduate medical education, to mentor AuD, PhD and MD students and otolaryngology residents, and to provide research experience for students at all levels in collaboration with both clinical and pre-clinical researchers of the Department, School of Medicine, and University.
