Job Description
Function of Position:
Reporting to the Director of Learning Support Systems, Paraprofessional Tutors work with students to help them understand course material, develop effective learning strategies and to become better learners.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
- Help students interpret and understand technical assignments
- Help students understand and use effective learning strategies so that they become more independent and intentional learner
- Promote critical thinking and problem solving
- Help to identify and fill learning gaps with discipline specific content
- Develop and nurture rapport with students, peers, and faculty
- Attend training activities to comply with certification requirements before and/or during semesters
- Adhere to tutoring center protocol and tutoring expectations as outlined in the Tutor Handbook
- Depending on your expertise, provide one-on-one and group tutoring assistance in one or more of the courses listed in any of the following subject areas:

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Associates Degree or working towards a Bachelor's Degree
- Experience working with diverse college populations
- Technology savvy
Preferred Qualifications:
- Tutoring experience
- Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
Additional Information:
Pay Rate: Associates Degree - $15.50/hr.
Job type: Part-time
Hours: 1 - 15 hours per week
