Location

Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

The Department of Physics engages students through a student-centered, research-driven curriculum, where students are actively involved in high-impact research addressing significant global issues. With a personalized approach, our program fosters the creation of new knowledge and the development of critical thinking and scientific problem-solving skills for our graduates to excel in top-tier graduate programs and the STEM workforce.

Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a pool of open rank, part-time and limited term faculty positions in the Department of Physics for the academic year 2025-2026. These positions are on an as needed, semester-by-semester basis. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with credentials. These positions are for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities

  • Teach calculus-based and/or algebra-based freshman/sophomore level Physics, including lectures, recitations, and laboratories.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures to undergraduate students; prepare and conduct recitations (problem-solving sessions) to accompany algebra-based and calculus-based physics courses; prepare, set-up and direct freshman and sophomore-level physics laboratories.
  • Create and administer examinations; evaluate and grade students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, and papers.
  • Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
  • Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, lecture presentations, and worksheets.

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications

A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Physics or a closely related discipline is required. OR A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in a non-related discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching on-line or hybrid courses at a 2-year or 4-year college or university.
  • Record of past teaching introductory physics at a college or university.
