JOB DESCRIPTION

John Wood Community College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to serve as a Part-Time Assistant Softball Coach. This position will support the head coach in all aspects of the softball program, including recruitment, player development, and team management, while fostering a positive and inclusive environment for student-athletes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in planning and conducting practices, conditioning sessions, and game strategies.
• Support the recruitment of student-athletes who align with the college's values and academic standards.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes to promote academic and athletic success.
• Ensure compliance with NJCAA rules, regulations, and college policies.
• Collaborate with the head coach on scheduling, travel arrangements, and equipment management.
• Assist with in-season/off-season training.
• Assist with budget management, purchasing, summer campus, and fundraising as needed.
• Represent the college and softball program positively in the community.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

• Previous experience playing or coaching softball at the high school, college, or club level.
• Strong understanding of softball fundamentals, strategies, and techniques.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
• Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.

Working Conditions:

• The Assistant Softball Coach will work in a combination of indoor and outdoor environments, including office settings, softball fields, and gymnasiums.
• The role involves frequent standing, walking, running, and other physical activities related to coaching and training athletes.
• Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Evening and weekend hours are required to accommodate practices, games, and travel for competitions.
• Travel is required for away games and recruiting activities, which may include overnight stays.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions during outdoor practices and games.
• The position requires effective communication and interaction with student-athletes, coaching staff, and the public.

Work Schedule:

• Part-time, seasonal position with a varying schedule.

Classification:

• Non-Exempt

SALARY:

• Estimated salary amount of $2,500.00.
