Job Summary

Gordon State College is recruiting for part-time faculty to teach courses in various disciplines including:

  • Communication
  • Philosophy
  • Spanish Language
  • Theatre

Responsibilities

  • Teaching: Teach assigned courses in the School of Education, Arts, & Humanities, ensuring high-quality delivery of content and student engagement.
  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development, review, and updating of course materials and syllabus to ensure alignment with academic standards.
  • Student Support: Provide timely feedback on assignments, assessments, and exams; hold office hours for student consultations; and offer academic guidance and mentorship.
  • Assessment and Grading: Assess student performance through assignments, tests, projects, and other methods as defined by the course syllabus.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with fellow faculty members to improve instructional quality and student success.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated on teaching methods and research to improve instructional effectiveness.
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and any other necessary documentation.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree or higher in an appropriate Humanities area (Communication, Philosophy, Spanish Language, or Theatre) with 18 or more semester credit hours in that discipline.

Two (2) years teaching experience in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate degree in an appropriate Humanities area (Communication, Philosophy, Spanish Language, or Theatre).

Three (3) - Five (5) years of teaching at the college level, preferably in an online environment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of computers.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products like Word and PowerPoint.
