Part-time Faculty, Literacy Education
The Department of Teacher Education Programs sets high standards for its teacher candidates. They are guided by highly qualified faculty members to become effective teachers in today's classrooms. The Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession ensure that teacher candidates receive a quality education that prepares them to enter the world of teaching.
To teach part-time, Literacy Education Courses. Teaching opportunities will be based on need each semester. Courses availability may include the following: TERG 2601 Reading Application in Content Areas Early Years, TERG 3701 Phonics in Reading Instruction, TERG 3702 Developmental Reading Instruction and Literature Strategies PreK-9, TERG 3703 Assessment and Instruction in Reading Internship, Pre-K-9, TERG 2610 Reading Application in Content Areas Middle Years, TERG 3711 Reading Application in Content Areas Secondary Years, TERG 6917 Literacy Reading and Language Arts, TERG 6922 Organizing and Managing Diverse Literacy Environments, TERG 6923 Literacy and Phonics Instruction Early Years, TERG 6924 Content Literacy Young Adolescent to Adult, TERG 6926 Reading and Language Arts Assessment I, TERG 6927 Practicum Coaching for Effective Literacy Instruction, TERG 6928 Practicum Case Study in Reading and Language Arts, TERG 6929 Reading and Language Arts Professional.
Willingness to teach on-campus, off-campus, distance learning, and/or hybrid courses.
Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students promptly. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university-provided tools and resources.

Minimum Qualifications: At least a Master's Degree in Education, Literacy, or related field. K-12 Reading Endorsement (if master's degree is not Literacy/Reading). Doctorate in Education or Literacy (if a desire to teach graduate courses). Holds a current teaching license in grades P-3, grades 1-8, grades 4-9, or grades 7-12. Minimum of three years teaching experience in grades P-12. Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. *Note: Licensure areas, degrees, and teaching experience will determine the literacy courses candidates would be qualified to teach.
Preferred Qualifications: Terminal degree. Master's degree in Literacy. Doctorate in Education or Literacy. College teaching experience or College Credit Plus certification. Understanding of the accreditation process. Knowledge of technology as used in teaching.
