Part Time Faculty, The Art School

The Art School, within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at DePaul University, invites expressions of interest in part-time faculty teaching. Part-time teaching opportunities fluctuate from quarter to quarter throughout the academic year. The applicants with expertise that match the course scheduling needs will be contacted for an interview. The School will work with selected individuals to determine their schedule. Courses are not guaranteed; however, the School does its best to give ample notice about available classes or potential course cancellations.

Qualifications:

• a cover letter indicating teaching experience and interests.
• a current CV, MFA in Art, or a related area
• 2 years of teaching experience is required. This could include an instructor of record position while in graduate school.
• Experience teaching at a university or liberal arts college preferred.
• Examples of their artwork, and student work-if available (Which can be a website)
• list of three professional references
• 2 examples of syllabi and corresponding student evaluations

Application Instructions:

The applicant's schedule must be flexible to accommodate quarterly course schedules (studio block meets for 2 hours and 45 minutes, twice a week, M/W, TU/TH).

Considerations: Exceptions to standard rates may apply to courses with unique credit hours, supervision, labs, clinical/practicum courses, coaching, administrative tasks, and courses that are either over-enrolled or under-enrolled.

Salary Information: The anticipated hiring rate of this position is between $4,500 and $5,600 per course, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
