Job Description
Function of Position:
The TEAS workshop instructor is responsible for implementing workshop curricula, provided by the MCC Healthcare Department, to assists students, interested in a career in nursing, achieve their best TEAS (test of essential academic skills) score.
This series of workshops was created to prepare students for each of the 4 TEAS subject areas: English, Reading, Science and Math. The topic areas are broken down into 7 workshops to instruct and facilitate studying, especially for students that have been out of school for some time. Each workshop is 3 hours of concentrated instruction on each of the TEAS subject areas.
Flexible work hours are required, to accommodate day, evening, and/or Saturday's.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
- Teach students, from provided curriculum, in the 4 TEAS subject areas
- Help students understand and use effective reading and learning strategies
- Help students identify and overcome obstacles that may be impeding academic success
- Assist students in the development of reading and learning strategies as well as note taking and study techniques
- Evaluate student performance and provide feedback to enhance their learning.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Reading and Writing, English, Math, or Science, or comparable degree
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with diverse college population
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Education, Reading and Writing, Math, or Science, or comparable degree
- Developmental reading and writing teaching experience
- Tutoring experience
- Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
Additional Information
Salary: Hourly wage is determined based on experience, internal equity and college budget. This position has a range of $25 to $35 per hour and is based on these mentioned factors.

Physical Demands of Position: Moving about while instructing students; some stationary time at teachers station
Working Conditions: Classroom setting. 10-20 hours per week.
Prohibition of Remote Work Outside New York State: Remote work locations outside New York State are not authorized by the College due to out-of-state tax and regulatory implications. In limited circumstances, prompted by business or operational needs, the College may approve requests to work remotely outside of New York State, on a short term, temporary basis.
