The Blinn College District is searching for a Part Time Instructor - Agricultural Sciences at our Waller Campus.
Job Summary
To assist the department with the administration, teaching, lab preparation and safety procedures on the assigned campus.
Principal Accountabilities
- Provide instruction for courses at a variety of times and locations.
- Demonstrate a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence.
- Maintain access to students through posted office hours and electronic communication.
- Prepare and utilize a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the institution.
- Maintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilize a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources.
- Advise students in academic matters.
- Evaluate student performance through a variety of means to measure progress while informing students in a timely manner.
- Assist in the development, distribution and collection of assessments for courses and program objectives.
- Provide recommendations to the Academic Dean, Assistant Dean, Department Heads, and Curriculum Resource Teams regarding curriculum.
- Demonstrate a positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the community.
- Provide information requested of all faculty.
- Submit timely college reports and forms to the appropriate divisions/departments.
- Exhibit a commitment to lifelong learning through participation in professional development activities.
- Possess a passion for teaching community college students.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and orally.
- Attend college orientation and required institutional meetings.
- Responsible for other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications
Master of Science in Agriculture with at least 18 graduate hours in the teaching field of Plant Science or closely related field.
Minimum Competencies
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other instructors, staff, administration and students.
- Ability to instruct students while achieving the course learning objectives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Community college teaching experience is desirable as well as experience using online learning systems as a supplement to face-to-face classes.
- Seeking qualified applicants with interest in teaching both Horticulture and Agronomy courses.
