Part - Time Instructor for Specialize Training, Business Development - DWED - FY 2026
Job Description
Please Note: This job announcement is not an offer of employment. This requisition has been established to collect a robust candidate pool for part-time positions that may become available within the designated discipline at CSN. If a part-time position becomes available within the discipline, the hiring department will review the application material of the candidates who have applied and will invite select candidates to interview based on their qualifications. Should a candidate be selected for a part-time instructor position, no minimum course load is guaranteed and teaching assignments, if any, are contingent upon various factors, including but not limited to, minimum student enrollment and/or department need. No reimbursement for travel expenses will be provided to local or out of area/out of state candidates and there is no guarantee of continued or future part-time and/or full-time employment.
Core Responsibilities
The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Teaching includes, but is not limited to, the following: Teaching assignments such as Leadership, Soft Skills, Microsoft Office. Classes run 4-8 weeks, 3-4 days a week, 5-6 hours each class at various CSN campus locations throughout the Las Vegas Valley and/or Community Partners Job Site. Classes are typically held Monday through Saturday.
Duties include, but not limited to, any of the following
- Develop and/or update course syllabus using approved syllabus template.
- Prepare and deliver course materials and learning assessments in assigned format (in-person, online, or hybrid).
- Utilize the Canvas Learning Management System as the course support platform for in-person courses and as the delivery platform for online and hybrid courses.
- Communicate teaching objectives and specific outcomes to students and clearly outline the grading policies for the course.
- Evaluate student achievement of specific learning outcomes and assign grades.
- Post final student grades to the transcript system in a timely manner no later than 2 weeks after the last date of the course meeting.
- Stay current regarding the professional body of knowledge in the field of practice.
- Participate in required orientations and instructor training programs.
- Use subject-matter expertise to impart knowledge to students and leverage additional resources appropriately to enhance the curriculum (i.e. make arrangements for guest speakers, etc.).
- Design interactive and motivational classroom activities to fully engage participants and to reinforce student learning.
- Update materials periodically and regularly monitor course evaluations in order to make adjustments and improvements to the curriculum.
- Meeting and assisting students outside of class time.
- Comprehensive understanding of customer service principles and practices.
- Student-centered / listening / verbal communication / organizational skills.
- Familiarity with adult education administration and student services.
- Possess organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- This position requires instructors to maintain a sign-in sheet, record attendance and maintain a pass/fail grade report for students per class.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and experience teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with a diverse/multicultural student body and/or workforce.
- Bachelor's degree in relevant fields (e.g. business, education, psychology).
- Proven experience in leadership development, training, or coaching.
- Strong knowledge of leadership theories and practices.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to build rapport and establish trust with participants.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in using technology and learning management systems.
- Available to teach classes in the daytime.
- Experience in designing and delivering virtual training programs.
- Experience designing/revising curriculum and measuring student performance.
- College-level teaching experience (or the corporate equivalent).
Salary Range
$30.00 Hourly
