The Blinn College District is searching for a Part Time Instructor - Music (MUSI) at our Bryan Campus.

Job Summary

Perform part-time operations for the instructional program in music.

Principal Accountabilities

• Teach core curriculum music classes as assigned by the Dean, Assistant Dean, or Department Head. Class will be held on the Bryan Campus and may include a Distance Education component.
• Provide instruction for courses at a variety of times and locations
• Demonstrate a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence
• Maintain regular office hours and access to students through posted office hours and electronic communication
• Prepare and utilize a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the institution
• Maintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies, delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources.
• Evaluate students' performance through a variety of means to measure progress and keep them informed in a timely manner
• Assist in the development, distribution, and collection of assessments for course and program objectives
• Provide recommendations to the Academic Dean, Assistant Dean, Department Head, and Curriculum Resource Team regarding curriculum
• Demonstrate a positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the community
• Submit timely reports and forms to the appropriate division/department
• Exhibit a commitment to lifelong learning through participation in professional development activities
• Possess a passion for teaching community college students
• Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and orally
• Attend college orientation and required institutional meetings
• Serve on division and/or college committees
• Responsible for other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications

Master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in music.

Minimum Competencies

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other instructors, staff, administration and students.
• Ability to instruct students while achieving the course learning objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to teach core curriculum lecture courses such as Music Appreciation and History of Rock & Popular Music
• College level teaching experience
• Distance Education experience, preferably to include certification on the latest edition of the Quality Matters Rubric
