General Summary

Park Attendants will ensure the safety, cleanliness, and smooth operation of Odessa College Downtown. Attendants will provide a positive experience for Odessa College Downtown visitors by maintaining the parks overall appearance. Attendants will work 3 four-hour shifts per week (noon to 4:00 p.m. OR 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.), as well as special scheduled events. Work shifts will rotate weekly. Odessa College Downtown is open every weekend, Friday through Sunday, from noon to 8:00 p.m. throughout the year, depending on weather conditions.

Specific Position Duties

• Regularly inspect and maintain the Odessa College Downtown facilities to ensure they are clean, safe, and in good working condition. Tasks may include monitoring restroom conditions and report maintenance issues
• Act as a friendly and approachable point of contact for Odessa College Downtown visitors. Provide assistance and information regarding rules and regulations
• Monitor Odessa College Downtown activities and enforce rules to ensure the safety and well-being of all visitors. Recognize potential safety hazards and report incidents to physical plant or Odessa College Police Department as necessary
• Assist with organizing and facilitating Odessa College Downtown events and activities. This may involve setting up equipment, coordinating with vendors, helping with event logistics, etc.
• Work closely with Odessa College Police Department to monitor and deter illegal or disruptive activities
• Provide excellent customer service to Odessa College Downtown visitors
• Ensure that any park equipment including games, splash pad, picnic tables, and trash receptacles, are well-maintained and functional
• Carry out other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role is desirable
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and responsibly
• Ability to perform manual labor tasks such as lifting, bending, and walking for extended periods
• Flexibility with working hours, including weekends and holidays

Annual Salary

$15 per hour with a maximum of 19 hours per week. Pay periods are scheduled on the 25th of every month OR the Friday before IF the 25th falls on a weekend OR scheduled holiday.
