The Department has a substantial research programme, with major funding from Medical Research Council (MRC), Wellcome Trust and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and provides highly rated medical training in psychiatry. The Head of Department is Professor Belinda Lennox.

We are seeking a Part-time Research Assistant to support the Response to Pramipexole (RePRAM) project. This is an NIHR-funded research project which aims to increase the understanding of predictors of response to a dopaminergic medication pramipexol in treatment of depression.

About the Role

The post is funded until 30 April 2027 and is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital. The post is offered on a part-time basis 50% FTE.

The post includes recruiting and testing study participants, and therefore requires onsite working, within standard working hours.

The RePRAM study is opening in March 2026. It will recruit 60 patients with Treatment Resistant Depression, who will have three research visits, involving computer tests focused on reward processing and collecting voice recordings for speech pattern analysis.

You will work closely with the local Principal Investigator, Dr Beata Godlewska and other members of the RePRAM study team. You will have a specific responsibility for the collection of reward processing data, and for study participants recruitment, for which you will also liaise with professionals working in GP practices and secondary care centres, and will recruit and assess people with depression.

About You

You will hold a first degree in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, or another relevant scientific discipline, together with relevant research experience. You should possess sufficient specialist knowledge in a relevant discipline to work effectively within established research programmes.

Experience of using specialist scientific or technical equipment in a research environment (e.g. EEG or computer-based experimental tasks) is essential. Experience with reward processing tasks and working with people with depression/mental health problems would be desirable.
