Patient Billing/Services Representative II - Orthopedic Surgery
Position Summary
This position greets patients upon their arrival. Duties include check-in, check-out, scheduling appointments, ensuring insurance is verified and referrals are obtained, ensuring appropriate registration information is entered correctly and in a timely manner. Assists with maintaining patient flow in a fast paced clinical office.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for greeting, registering and checking in New, Return and Walk-in patients. Will also check-out and schedule appointments.
- Updates and verifies patient insurance, referrals and demographic information in EPIC as needed.
- Collects copays, self-pay payments and fees for services as needed.
- Balances cash drawer daily.
- Serves as back up for other staff during peak times, vacations and illnesses.
- Travel to other locations may be required.
- Maintains familiarity with insurance companies and their requirements.
- Adheres to HIPAA regulations and all Orthopedic/front desk policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications/Professional Licenses:
The list below may include all acceptable certifications, professional licenses and issuers. More than one credential, certification or professional license may be required depending on the role. Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Red Cross
Work Experience:
Billing Systems And Third-Party Claims And/Or Medical Office Setting, Related Customer Service (3 Years)

Required Qualifications:
Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire date.
Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).
