PATIENT SERVICES COORDINATOR II

Job Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a PATIENT SERVICES COORDINATOR II to be responsible for coordinating and/or administering certain clinical and patient services and for performing administrative duties in support of physician staff and operations. Responsible for the conduct of patient scheduling. Coordinates outpatient scheduling and facilitates in-patient pre-certification and admitting processes as necessary. Serves as an advocate for patient and patient family assisting patients and patient families with obtaining services and assistance available within the University or Birmingham community. Answers patient and patient family inquiries verbally or in writing. Assists in resolving patient problems. Follows up with patients and patient families regarding post-treatment/post-operative status. May supervise clerical staff.

The position supports dental students, residents, and the International Residency Program by interacting with patients and their families, providing information about pre- and post-treatment care. Additionally, this role is responsible for managing billing and financial plans for patients in both clinical programs.

(Hourly Rate: $16.00 - $20.00)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience required OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.

The ideal candidate for this position should possess a solid background in patient care settings, ideally with firsthand experience in either a dental or medical office. Familiarity with billing procedures and office management practices will greatly enhance their suitability for the role. In addition, the ideal individual must demonstrate exceptional communication skills, enabling them to interact effectively with patients and the public, ensuring a positive and welcoming environment. Strong interpersonal abilities are crucial for addressing inquiries, providing support, and resolving concerns efficiently.
