Saint Mary’s College invites applications and nominations for a Full-time Salaried Adjunct in the Leadership Department in the College’s Kalmanovitz School of Education beginning in 2024-2025 academic year. The work is collegial in a highly collaborative and culturally diverse campus environment. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the mission of the College, which is informed, animated, and expressed through its Catholic, Lasallian, and Liberal Arts traditions. The position comes with both advising and departmental service expectations.
The Kalmanovitz School of Education is a student-centered learning community that inspires innovation in counseling, education, and leadership. Through the practice of shared inquiry, active and collaborative learning, and learning through service to society, we empower our students to deliver excellence and lead change according to the principles of social justice. The school is known for partnerships emphasizing community engagement, action research, and community-based research, and it is developing demonstrable strength in environmental literacy, Lasallian education, and urban education.
The Leadership Department provides a supportive learning environment that fosters adult learners’ personal growth and wellness, as well as professional development. Faculty members are committed to providing student-centered and dynamic learning experiences that are design so that students may apply theory and research directly to their own practice. Our students come to see the world differently – as more nuanced and interconnected – and are better prepared to respond to the increasingly complex challenges of 21st century institutions.
The Leadership Department offers a Doctorate (EdD) in Educational Leadership for Equity and Social Change, a Master’s degree in Leadership, and a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership and Organizational Studies (BALOS). These programs make extensive use of a cohort-based, online and hybrid learning community model, and have a strong theory to practice and transformative learning orientation.

Salary: $75,522 - $101,891.00 depending upon qualifications.
The salary range for this position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
Qualifications
● A doctoral degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Higher Education, Leadership Studies, Educational Psychology, Learning Sciences, Organization Studies, Organizational Behavior, or a closely related discipline.
● A demonstrated commitment to rigorous, student-centered, and collaborative learning at the university level. Expertise and experience to successfully teach multiple graduate level courses on quantitative research methods and analysis, and advanced specialization courses across one or more programs in the Leadership Department.
● Record of teaching excellence in multiple formats, including in-person and hybrid or blended learning environments. Additionally, expertise in contemporary uses of emerging electronic technologies in diverse classrooms is required.
● Ability to successfully mentor masters and doctoral level students in their research studies.
● Knowledge of adult development models and transformational learning approaches (desired).
● Highly effective organizational skills; demonstrated ability to maintain records and track key processes.
● Demonstrate an appreciation of and deep respect for the learning/teaching environment and for the students, staff, and faculty who comprise it. Willingness to embrace the mission of Saint Mary’s College of California and its Lasallian, Catholic, and Liberal Arts traditions.
