Regular Faculty work under the direction of their respective Associate Dean/Division Dean and are responsible for meeting all scheduled classes/labs/clinics and providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the College and the Department Chair's approved course outline. Regular Faculty are also responsible for using teaching methods and media designed to reach students of varying educational and experiential backgrounds to allow each student the opportunity to master the objectives of the course.
Regular Faculty are required to serve a provisional period from the date of employment until the completion of employment under three consecutive full year regular contracts.
This position shall provide instruction in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program and PPSC courses.
This position may require working in virtual, weekend, evening, or various campus locations. Successful candidate must be willing to teach concurrent enrollment both on PPSC campuses and in local area high schools.
Reports To: PTA Program Department Chair/Director
The required teaching schedule is August to May. The required pay schedule is September to August.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Licensed PT or PTA with corresponding entry-level degree.
- Completed 4,000 hours of verified occupational experience in the content area OR three years of verified teaching experience in the content area.
- Three years of full-time or equivalent post-licensure clinical practice.
- Two years of clinical practice experience must include experience as a site coordinator of clinical education or clinical instructor in physical therapy, or have a minimum of two years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and administration in a physical therapist assistant education program.
- Demonstrate current knowledge in assigned course content and effectiveness in teaching assigned subjects. Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
- Demonstrated ability to work with underrepresented populations in successful efforts to close the achievement gap.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completed bachelor’s degree or higher in physical therapy, health, fitness, business, education, or closely related field.
- Clinical specialty from APTA ABPTS or PTA advanced proficiency pathway.
- Three years of teaching experience in a Physical Therapy or Physical Therapist Assistant Program.
- Five or more years of experience working with a variety of patients in outpatient or inpatient settings, utilizing evidence-based modality application and assessment.
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluent Spanish.
