Physical Therapy Aide
Job Summary
The Division of Student Life at the University of Colorado, Boulder is seeking applications for a Physical Therapy Aide! This position supports the Orthopedics and Integrative Care (OIC) department at Medical Services for all patient needs.
Administrative and clinic duties include insurance verification and pre-authorization, as well as patient communication on insurance coverage. Additionally, this position will handle scheduling and fielding calls for referral/protocol information and customer service. Other tasks include providing support to providers during patient care, and general clinic maintenance and equipment such as cleaning tables and stocking supplies and linens.

Medical Services staff understand and are committed to the unique health concerns of our student population, making us an unparalleled source of advocacy for student wellness! Medical Services provides a wide range of health care services for students for primary care, physicals, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, allergy shots, vaccinations, travel health care, and concussion care. Our skilled team of providers collaborate to support the overall health of our students with our team of physicians/nurses, physical therapists, registered dietitians, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and massage therapists.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
In-depth knowledge of Medical Services scheduling and patient care policies and procedures.
Scheduling
- Schedule new and established patients for OIC in person
- Verify insurance eligibility and assisting with referrals
- Performing Pre-authorization for Physical Therapy Services
- Assist students with private insurance, uploading information and discuss potential out of pocket expenses
- Collect appropriate outside documentation for medical records; post-operative reports, protocols and referrals
- Review the upcoming schedule, correct errors or concerns to ensure quick resolution.
- Support the communication and process during system outages, unplanned closures, or other related occurrences.
- Assist with rescheduling patients when a provider is out sick or other scheduling issues arise
- Assist providers and management with special administrative projects as needed
- Assist with inventory counts
- Assist patients in wayfinding and communicating with individual departments as needed
- Assist with Student Volunteers
Other assigned administrative tasks that correspond to front line work such as but not limited to: assisting in data collection, updating forms, creation and maintenance of documents to support the staff.
Clinical Duties
- Prepare patient(s) and treatment areas for care
- Ensure rooms are ready, appropriate forms have been completed, clients are properly dressed
- Initiate warm-ups and take appropriate vitals as necessary
- Instruct and supervise exercises and administer various modality treatments under the direction and guidance of a therapist
Clinic Maintenance
- Ensure treatment tables and other equipment are cleaned / disinfected; linen is stocked; exercise equipment is put away and that workstations are clean, tidy and organized
- Assist with clinic inventory counts and training of clinic student assistants and volunteers
What You Should Know
The expected work schedule for this full-time position is from 7:45am - 4:45pm, Monday through Friday.

The annual salary range for this position is $46,000 - $49,920.

What We Require
- Two years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position. Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
What You Will Need
Basic functional computer skills (experience of Windows based systems).
What We Would Like You to Have
- Experience with customer service.
- Background or understanding of insurance verification processes.
- Previous experience as a physical therapy aide.
