West Virginia University (WVU) School of Medicine seeks a Regional Chair of Internal Medicine for the Eastern Division in collaboration with West Virginia University Hospitals/University Health Associates. SUMMARY: The Regional Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine – Eastern Division is responsible for overall clinical, educational, scholarship/research, and service provided by the Department on the Eastern campus of the WVU School of Medicine and WVU Medicine East...

ALLOCATION OF TIME: Administrative 50%; Clinical and Educational 50% (variable).

EDUCATIONAL:

• Works collaboratively with Eastern Division Dean...
• Supports and supervises the Internal Medicine Residency Program Director...

CLINICAL:

• Participates in the clinical care of patients...
• Provides leadership and management for clinical operations...

HOSPITAL:

• In coordination with WVUH-E CMO...

RESEARCH AND SCHOLARSHIP:

• Participates in scholarly activities...

FINANCIAL:

• Overall responsibility for cost-effective management...

COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND OUTREACH:

• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships...

STRATEGIC PLANNING:

• Participates in active and ongoing strategic planning...

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Direct patient care...
• Teaching of medical students...
• Creation and execution of an appropriate departmental budget...

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, with ongoing maintenance of certification.
• Eligible for medical licensure in the state of West Virginia...
• Ten years or more experience in practicing Internal Medicine or its Specialties, with demonstrated leadership experience.
• Experience in teaching medical students and residents.
• Demonstration of successful fiscal and personnel management.
