Job Summary:
The Shift Group provides maintenance, repair, and operation services for all University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus buildings on a twenty-four-hour basis. This work unit is responsible for monitoring and responding to calls for building systems such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration (HVACR), electrical, plumbing, and fire protection.
This position will control the non-business hours general maintenance program for all buildings and equipment at Anschutz through the supervision of Shift PMT-1's and PMT-2's. The general maintenance program includes, but is not limited to; emergency response, customer service requests, preventive maintenance tasks, and general building maintenance (HVACR, electrical, plumbing, and structural repairs).
This is a 2nd shift position. The normal work schedule is Tuesday to Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and includes work on holidays that overlap with schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, estimate, schedule, and coordinate tasks for assigned Shift staff and other staff helping to provide coverage. Coordinate work with other departmental supervisors as needed. Ensure that issues found during non-business hours which cannot be resolved are referred to the responsible group.
- Reviews staff timecards and schedules time off while ensuring adequate operational coverage.
- Completes all aspects of performance evaluations for assigned staff.
- Responsible for monitoring employee safety, ensuring staff are properly trained, and conducting quality assurance checks for work done.
- Oversee and maintains a work order management system for the Shift group.
- Assists as a Building Maintenance Operations project representative for major and minor maintenance projects, reviewing blueprints, specifications, schematics, sketches, and contract bids for standards and code compliance. Schedules and coordinates work with campus customers and other division supervisors and managers.
- Assists with outage planning. Interacts with campus faculty, staff, and other department supervisors to provide emergency and planned responses for utility outages and/or critical situations.
- Assists with department initiatives as required, e.g., training reviews, process reviews/revisions, updates to maintenance procedures, etc.
Work Location: Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Four (4) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position
- Substitution: A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to four (4) years
- Colorado law requires that candidates for state government jobs be residents of Colorado at the time of application.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a work lead or supervisor in facilities management or trades.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience using building automation system software.
- HVACR, electrical, or plumbing trade knowledge or experience.
- Physical ability that meets the requirements for the position
Conditions of Employment:
- Complete the IFMA FMP credential within 3 years.
- Complete the IFMA SFP credential within 4 years.
- Must possess and maintain a current, valid State of Colorado Driver's License.
- Must be willing and able to pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle checks and drug test.

- Must be willing and able to work 2nd shift, weekends and holidays.
Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $5,679 - $6,587 per month ($68,148 - $79,049 per year).
