Basic Function
Performs law enforcement duties on all District facilities to protect the lives and property of students, staff, faculty, and campus visitors; patrols and safeguards campus facilities; prevents and detects crimes; enforces laws and ordinances; and assists the Chief of Police and Sergeants with special assignments at each District location and off-site facilities.
Education and Experience
Completion of the twelfth (12th) grade. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Key Qualifications
- Operations and services of a public safety law enforcement department.
- Basic principles and practices of criminal law.
- Methods and techniques of conducting investigations and interviewing.
- Applicable federal, state, and local laws relevant to public safety.
- Safety practices, police equipment, first aid, and CPR.
Abilities: Patrol areas, pursue suspects, investigate incidents, prepare reports, operate equipment, communicate effectively, etc.
Licenses/Certifications
- Valid driver's license.
- Graduation from a California P.O.S.T. Police Academy within the past three (3) years or current basic California P.O.S.T. certificate.
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certificates.
Examples of Typical Job Functions
- Patrols District properties by vehicle, foot, or bicycle.
- Investigates accidents, crimes, thefts; makes arrests.
- Prepares reports and testifies in court.
- Maintains crowd and traffic control.
- Provides medical response, safety presentations.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday: 2:00pm - 10:00pm
