Selected candidates will receive fully sponsored training at an MCOLES-approved law enforcement academy , including covered tuition, uniforms, equipment, and other required expenses. In return for this sponsorship, recruits must commit to employment with the WCC Department of Public Safety ( WCC DPS ) for a minimum of four (4) years upon academy completion. If a recruit voluntarily leaves before fulfilling the required service period, they may be responsible for reimbursing a portion or all of the academy costs , as outlined in the WCC Police Academy Reimbursement Agreement (in accordance with Michigan Public Act 43 of 2023).
