Post-doc research position “Magnetron Sputtering of Piezoelectric Thin Films”
Job Summary: The XUV Optics Group at the University of Twente is conducting a multidisciplinary research program on magnetron sputtering of piezoelectric thin films. Research occurs in a state-of-the-art thin film laboratory within the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology, collaborating with academic and industrial partners.
Responsibilities: Develop key material science for mastering magnetron sputtering of piezoelectric thin films, including exploiting new deposition schemes and parameters of reactive magnetron sputtering for optimal performance, and developing understanding of piezoelectric film structures and functional properties using techniques such as AFM, XRD, SEM, and DBLI.
Qualifications and Requirements: A PhD degree in materials science, physical chemistry, engineering, solid state physics, surface physics, or a related field; proven experience in reactive magnetron sputtering and its plasma diagnostics, preferably in oxides or nitrides; ability to work as an excellent team player in a group of scientists and engineers; creativity and motivation to address challenges in thin film physics; fluency in English and ability to collaborate with industrial and academic parties.
What the Employer Offers: A full-time appointment for 2 years with possible extension; salary between €4,060 and €5,331 gross per month based on experience; holiday allowance of 8% of gross annual salary; year-end bonus of 8.3%; solid pension scheme; minimum of 29 holiday days; and numerous professional and personal development programs. The position is within the Faculty of Science & Technology at the University of Twente, emphasizing life sciences, technology, and innovation.
