Job Summary:
We are searching for a qualified post-doctoral fellow to join our growing laboratory, whose principal investigator is an NIH-funded physician-scientist. This individual will conduct research focused on biochemical, cellular, and molecular mechanisms underlying human placental angiogenesis and development, with a primary focus on severe, early-onset fetal growth restriction. Successful applicants will need to demonstrate a strong work ethic, to have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, to exhibit excellent skills in scientific writing, and to display meticulous, detail-oriented technical skills and record-keeping. Please note that this position requires flexible work hours, including weekends and occasional overnight times, as required for completion of study aims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research (85%)
- Designing and performing experiments in a methodical, scientific manner using advanced biomedical research techniques
- Developing and validating new methodologies/applications relevant to the research
- There is no option for remote work for this portion of duties.
- Administrative (10%)
- Writing full-length, high-quality scientific publications
- Presenting research at national and international scientific meetings
- Developing grant-writing skills by applying for institutional or other small grants
- Some remote work for this portion of duties can be considered after discussion with PI
- Teaching (5%)
- Teach/supervise students or junior research services professionals
- There is no option for remote work for this portion of duties
Work Location:
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD in relevant scientific area such as Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Biophysics or Reproductive Biology
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in human placental biology
- Prior understanding/knowledge of angiogenesis, tissue microenvironments, including but not limited to extracellular matrix, macrophages
- Prior experience with:
- Advanced cellular imaging techniques, including live-cell imaging
- Coding/bioinformatics analyses
- 3D and/or organoid models
- Generation of viral constructs
- iPSC technology and cell differentiation
- Relevant previous post-doctoral experience (for applicants with a previous postdoctoral fellowship)
- Relevant technical skills, including experience with primary cell isolation, cell culture, and routine laboratory experiments such as performance and analysis of real-time PCR, western blotting, biochemical assays, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, EIAs, gene transfection/transduction studies
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Excellent skills in scientific writing
- Appropriate knowledge of basic statistics and facility with standard statistical programs such as GraphPad Prism
- Ability to work independently yet collaboratively
- A strong work ethic and a commitment to being a team player in the lab and advancing knowledge in the field
- Meticulous record-keeping of experiments and laboratory operations
Additional requirements for this specific position
- In addition to usual laboratory hours, this position requires flexible work hours, including some weekends and occasional overnight times, as required for completion of study aims.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established as
$62,232 - $75,564. Salaries commensurate with experience according to NIH Kirschstein-NRSA guidelines.
The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
