Job Summary:
Post-doctoral fellow position available to study role of modulators of T-type (low-voltage-activated) calcium channels in native tissue preparations and in recombinant cells. Our research involves biophysical techniques to measure membrane currents (whole-cell voltage-clamp and current-clamp recordings) from the human embryonic kidney (HEK) cells, dorsal root ganglion neurons and dorsal horn neurons in wild-type rats and mice, as well as mice lacking subtypes of T-type calcium channels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform surgery on rats and mice.
- Perform recordings of spontaneous synaptic currents in acute spinal cord slice preparation.
- Perform recordings of optogenetically evoked synaptic currents in acute spinal cord slice preparation.
- Perform recordings of calcium currents in acute slice preparation, dorsal root ganglion neurons and HEK cells.
- Perform recordings of action potentials in acute spinal cord slice preparation.
- Perform pharmacological experiments in acute spinal cord slice preparation.
- Analyze the data.
- Write scientific manuscripts.
Supervision Received
The Post-doctoral Fellow reports to the Lab Director, Dr. Slobodan Todorovic.
Supervision Exercised
The Post-doctoral Fellow will not supervise other employees.
Work Location:
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: MD or PhD in the field of pharmacology, physiology, molecular biology and/or neuroscience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in physiology and anesthesiology
- Experience with slice physiology and patch clamp recordings is desirable but not required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills using the English language.
- The ability to work independently within the research lab on assigned projects
- Computer software, equipment operation, or research technical skills
