The Renaissance School of Medicine, Stony Brook University, Department of Anesthesiology is recruiting for an Anesthesiologist with a Fellowship in Regional Anesthesia.

Stony Brook University Hospital is a Level 1 trauma Academic Medical Center and Burn Center. The Acute Pain services, 24/07, covers a variety of inpatient pain conditions, with a heavy reliance on regional anesthesia including surgical, medical, trauma, burns, and uses nerve blocks and medical managment. The Regional Anesthesiologist will be able to participate in the Acute Pain call schedule, and will be part of the Orthopedic Anesthesia team. Stony Brook has a Top ranked total joint replacement program; according to HealthGrades.

The Anesthesiology Residency program is very competative, with a 100% Fellowship Acceptance rate for over 10 years. Many residents score in the top 10% on the Basic Exam or the In-Training exam. The ABA Board Exams pass rate exceed the national means. Academic time is granted for research and education. Residents and Medical Students are very involved in research. SB Aneshtesia NIH funding was ranked #21 nationally among anesthesia departments.

General Responsibilities

The candidate will provide anesthetic care to patients undergoing surgery or other procedures and will provide consultation before and after the anesthetic procedure. Perform regional anesthesia and be part of the acute pain services team. The candidate will be actively engaged in the instruction and/or supervision of medical students, resident physicians and certified registered nurse anesthetists.

Required Qualifications

  • MD or DO (or foreign equivalent) degree
  • Licensed, or, eligible for licensure in New York State
  • Completed/soon to complete an ACGME accredited residency program in Anesthesiology
  • Board Certified/Eligible in Anesthesiology
  • Completed/soon to complete a Fellowship in Regional Anesthesia
