Position Description
The Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) department at the University of Houston invites qualified candidates for one postdoctoral research position starting in January 2025. The postdoc position, which will focus on reinforcement learning and decision intelligence for offshore oil and gas operations safety and reliability, will be supervised by Dr. Yisha Xiang (https://xiang.ie.uh.edu/).
The duration of the position is expected to be one year and may be renewable based on performance and funding availability. The postdoc will be responsible for: (i) developing models and algorithms for failure prognostics and maintenance optimization, (ii) conducting research and taking leadership in writing research papers and proposals for research funding, and (iii) assisting in the supervision of graduate and undergraduate research assistants.
Required Qualifications for Postdoc
• Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or closely related fields
• Knowledge of optimization and algorithms
• Knowledge of data analytics and machine learning
• Knowledge of Python programming
• Good English writing and presentation skills
