The JSB (Junction of Statistics and Biology) Lab at Fred Hutch, led by Professor Jingyi Jessica Li, operates at the intersection of statistics and biology to drive cutting-edge biomedical research. The JSB Lab focuses on developing statistical and computational methods motivated by important questions in biomedical sciences and abundant information in big genomic and health related data. On the statistical methodology side, our example interests include association measures, high-dimensional variable selection, classification metrics, and complex inference problems post variable section or empowered by prediction. On the biomedical application side, our example interests include transcriptomics, comparative genomics, and information flow in the central dogma.

Responsibilities

The JSB Lab is seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Research Fellow with a background in statistics,biostatistics, bioinformatics, genomics, or related fields to work closely with Dr. Li on cutting-edge research in single-cell and spatial omics data analysis. Aligned with the lab's focus on enhancing analytical rigor and translating statistical innovation into biological insight, the fellow will contribute to projects such as developing novel statistical methods for analyzing temporal and spatial gene expression dynamics at the single-cell level, evaluating and benchmarking computational tools for single-cell and spatial omics research, and creating statistical approaches for quantifying isoforms using long-read sequencing data.

The successful applicant will work in a multidisciplinary research team supported by an advanced data management and computational infrastructure to perform data analyses, develop and/or implement novel statistical methodology, and publish research results. The incumbent will have ample opportunity to publish first-author papers and present at national meetings.The environment at Fred Hutch is lively yet casual, with a strong emphasis on innovative and collaborative work. Fred Hutch is housed in a lovely campus next to Lake Union a short walk from downtown, and a convenient shuttle from the University of Washington.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicants should have a Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, bioinformatics (or related fields).
  • Strong skills in applied statistical methods development, data analysis, and computation.
  • The position requires a highly motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong creative and critical thinking abilities, and a willingness to engage in collaborative and interdisciplinary research.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $80,172 to $95,014, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship at this time.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
