Post Doctoral Scholar
The College of Pharmacy at The Ohio State University is seeking applications for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to join our team investigating innovative strategies to combat antibiotic resistance. The research focuses on Klebsiella pneumoniae clinical isolates and their corresponding bacteriophages, with an emphasis on understanding phage-antibiotic synergy mechanisms and leveraging collateral sensitivity to phages as a therapeutic approach. This position will ideally start on Feb 2026 and end on Feb 2027.
Essential Job Duties:
- Maintain a consistent on-site presence (9:00 AM 5:00 PM) to actively participate in experiments and team activities.
- Flexibility for occasional weekend work and overtime as project needs arise.
- Collaborate closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) on grant submissions, manuscript preparation, and dissemination of research findings.
- Execute and optimize phage-related protocols and techniques for experimental workflows.
- Contribute to experimental design and data interpretation for studies on phage-antibiotic interactions.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Required:
- PhD in Microbiology or related field
- Strong background in phage biology, including isolation, propagation, and characterization techniques.
Highly Desirable:
- Experience with bioinformatics tools for genomic and transcriptomic analysis.
- Familiarity with gene expression studies (e.g., qPCR, RNA-seq).
- Demonstrated ability in scientific writing for publications and grant proposals.
