Post Doctoral Scholar - Neuroscience
Post Doctoral Researcher to pursue continued research experience and training within the Department of Neuroscience; conducts independent research under the guidance of his/her scientific mentor to investigate the epigenetic, transcriptional, molecular mechanisms of axon regeneration/degeneration.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth research with independence
- Design and lead your research project, but with sufficient guidance and mentoring
- Direct the work of small research teams
- Ensure the validity and reliability of data
- Maintain accurate and complete records
- Write reports for submission to research sponsors
- Present findings to colleagues and at conferences
- Submit publications to high-impact refereed journal
- Perform in vivo experiments on mouse models of nerve and spine injuries
- Collaborate with team members to analyze and integrate different kinds of transcriptomics, epigenomics, and proteomics data.
- Engage in collaborative projects within the lab and across the scientific community, contributing to lab meetings, journal clubs, and collaborative publications.
- Assist in the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research students and research assistants
- Ability to attract external research funding
- Attend relevant workshops and conferences
- Develop contacts and research collaborations within the College and the wider community
- Promote the reputation of the Group, the Department, and the College
- Participate in developing and managing grant budget
- Monitor expenses
Experience and Qualifications Required and/or Desired:
PhD or equivalent degree required; Experience in cellular and RNA biology and animal work is required. Experience in bioinformatics preferred.
