Postdoctoral Fellow
Position Summary
Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Pharmacology, Physiology & Neuroscience Department at NJMS. The Lear Lab studies the regulation of cellular proteostasis, with a focus on the intersection of the ubiquitin-proteasome system and lysosomal biology and how these systems affect aging, cellular metabolism, and neurodegenerative disease. Central in this question is identifying key proteins regulating auto-lysosomal biology, mapping the mechanisms controlling their protein stability, and seeking to intervene in their degradation.
Key Duties
- Perform various research and technical operations relative to ongoing investigatory activities of a laboratory; may conduct independently or as assigned specialized research for a particular project.
- Participate in the development of performance standards, selection of methodology and instrumentation and coordination of the analytical and instrumentation functions with research areas to ensure conformance with the goals and objectives of the research program.
- Assist in the conducting of continuous program of research and development regarding new procedures and instrumentation functions of the laboratory.
- As requested, assist in the implementation of the programs and projects in special areas of interest to the overall research program of the laboratory.
- Perform highly skilled biochemical, molecular biology, immunohistochemical techniques in investigating molecular mechanism underlying cerebrovascular deficits of Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis, using biochemical methods, immunohistochemistry, fiberoptic spectroscopy, in vivo two photon microscopy and genetically modified mouse/rat models.
- Records and analyzes data for studies.
Minimum Education and Experience
