Passionate about CFD and the energy transition? Join us in accelerating green hydrogen production through cutting-edge computational modelling to optimise innovative alkaline water electrolysers as part of the HyPro consortium. Water electrolysis using green electricity for production of green hydrogen is essential for a renewable energy future. Hydrogen bubbles drive electrolyte flow for cooling but hinder ion transport, increasing resistance. Comprehensive computational multiphase flow models including heat and mass transport are needed to minimize energy losses and maximize natural convection.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate CFD models (Euler-Euler or mixture models) that describe multiphase flow, heat, and mass transport in electrolysis systems.
• Collaborate with HyPro consortium partners (e.g., AVOXT and NEWES) to translate modelling results into design improvements.
• Report on findings through open access publications in top-tier international journals.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A PhD degree in engineering or scientific discipline.
• A proven track record in computational modelling and fluid mechanics.
• A highly motivated and self-driven researcher mindset, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
• An excellent command of written and spoken English.
• Experience with Ansys Fluent, OpenFoam, or COMSOL or multiphase flow modelling is a plus.
