Postdoc Numerical Modelling of Wind Farm Cluster Interactions
Job Summary: This project assesses the application of high fidelity (e.g., LES and RANS CFD) and lower fidelity wind flow models for predicting cluster wake interactions between large offshore wind farms. It involves cooperative research with partners in Germany and Denmark as part of the European CETP EuroWindWakes project.
Responsibilities: Apply canopy models in CFD, use reduced order multi-layer models to predict intra-wind farm interactions, benchmark model performance, and provide recommendations for modelling strategies that balance accuracy with speed to assess energy yield for future North Sea scenarios.
Qualifications and Requirements: PhD in the application of fluid dynamics to atmospheric flows; experience in CFD (LES and RANS); experience in modelling wind farms in real atmospheres using CFD codes.
What the Employer Offers: A 2-year contract for 36-40 hours per week; salary and benefits in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities; customizable compensation package; discounts on health insurance; monthly work costs contribution; flexible work schedules; relocation support; and a Dual Career Programme for accompanying partners.
