Postdoc Healthy Living Environment
Job Summary
Contribute to research on the relationship between living environment and health using sensor data in the Utrecht district of Cartesius. This postdoc role involves executing and coordinating research within the Health Holland project MEASUR, developing systems for sensor data collection and integration to inform design choices for a healthy living environment. Work in a consortium including Utrecht University, Hogeschool Utrecht, MRP Development, Ballast Nedam, Good City Sense, Urban Sync, and the Municipality of Utrecht.
Responsibilities
Focus on sensor data, data integration, and mapping the relationship between living environment and health. Assess sensors developed by project partners that measure wind, vibrations, soil conditions, air quality, and combinations of sound and traffic data. Analyze quantitative data to enhance the applicability of collected information in practice. Serve as a backup for research coordination in the 'Bouwen aan een Gezonde Wijk' covenant, ensuring coherence, progress, and collaboration among projects during the current coordinator's maternity leave.
Qualifications and Requirements
A completed PhD in a relevant field such as health sciences, environmental sciences, data science, civil engineering, or a related discipline. Experience with quantitative data analysis in R (knowledge of Python is a plus), preferably with processing sensor data and combining various data sources via data platforms. Affinity with research on the relationship between living environment and health, and working at the intersection of science and practice. Strong communicative and organizational skills, with the ability to conduct independent research and coordinate activities in a broad collaboration. Experience in connecting different stakeholders (scientific, public, and private) and maintaining sustainable relationships. Excellent Dutch language skills at C1 level in both spoken and written form.
What the Employer Offers
A position for one year, with the possibility of extension up to 3.5 years. A workweek of 28 to 32 hours with a gross monthly salary ranging from €3,546 to €5,538 for a full-time position (scale 10 of the Dutch Universities Collective Labour Agreement). 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
