Postdoc position for Multi-scale process modelling
Job Summary
At the CPM chair, we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join the EU-funded FASTER project, which aims to enable the decentralized production of green ammonia; a crucial molecule at the intersection of the energy and food value chains. Green ammonia can act both as a hydrogen carrier for energy applications and as a fertilizer for agriculture, offering a key solution for Europe's climate and energy transitions. The project will develop and demonstrate a novel, mild-temperature ammonia synthesis process and assess its performance, techno-economic feasibility, and environmental and social impact.
Responsibilities
As part of the FASTER project, the researcher will lead the development of new catalytic systems and process models for commercial-scale deployment, including multi-scale, multi-physics models, techno-economic analysis, and sustainability assessments.
Qualifications and Requirements
The candidate must have a strong interdisciplinary background with demonstrated experience in process engineering and systems modeling, particularly multi-scale, multi-physics models; techno-economic analysis including project financing, cost structures, and risk assessment; and sustainability assessments using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Life Cycle Costing (LCC), and Social Life Cycle Assessment (SLCA), with familiarity in relevant policy frameworks and sustainability metrics. The candidate should hold a doctoral degree.
What the Employer Offers
A fulltime position for 1 year in a dynamic ecosystem with enthusiastic colleagues. Salary ranges from €4,060 to €5,331 gross per month for fulltime employment, based on education and experience. Additional benefits include a holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary, a year-end bonus of 8.3%, 232 holiday hours per calendar year for fulltime employment, and professional and personal development programs.
