Job Summary
A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the Robert Batey Research Group in the Department of Biochemistry at University of Colorado Boulder.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- The researcher will be responsible for (1) conducting original research in the development of RNA-based biosensors for use in mammalian cells including data acquisition, analysis and written communication of results, (2) helping to manage laboratory jobs including chemical and radiation safety and making sure key reagents and materials are in stock and (3) assisting students with learning experimental approaches such as RNA footprinting and x-ray crystallography.
What You Should Know
The start date of the job is May 16, 2026. The job will entail performing experimental research, including planning of experiments, data acquisition and analysis and verbally/written communication of the results, performing laboratory management tasks including safety reporting (chemical and radiological safety), inventory and ordering of key reagents and materials to ensure that they are in stock in the lab for general use, and working with other members of the laboratory in assisting them with their experiments when needed.

What We Require
- We require a PhD in Biochemistry and at least four years of experience in both RNA biochemistry and structural biology.
What You Will Need
- Synthesis and purification of milligram quantities of RNA by T7-RNAP transcription
- Crystallization of small molecule-RNA complexes and collection of diffraction data
- Analysis of small molecule-RNA complexes by RNase footprinting
- Design and engineering of RNA biosensor devices
What We Would Like You to Have
The candidate would also ideally have experience using software packages specific to biochemical and structural analysis of RNA including SAFA, HKL-3000 and PHENIX.
